Many decades ago — long before PCs or the Internet — IBM had a marketing campaign called “IBM Means Service.” It consisted of simple, full-page ads dedicated to the philosophy that IBM would always provide the best possible service to its customers.

Flash forward 60 years. Times and technology have changed, but Jeskell continues that tradition with unmatched engineering services focused on the customer’s business needs.

“We’re here to promote our customers’ success and add value to the best-of-breed technologies that we offer,” said Steve Rogers, VP of Engineering and Strategic Planning, Jeskell. “We feel that we provide a true value-add through pre- and post-sale technical consulting and implementation services. We’re much more than a source for the latest products. Our priorities are communication, collaboration and improving our own processes to ensure that customer satisfaction remains extremely high.”

Jeskell’s service offerings are also driven by customer demand. Jeskell provides a full suite of consulting, engineering and project management services surrounding virtualization, server and storage consolidation, data management and migration, e-mail archiving, Tivoli Storage Manager and Network Manager, and Alcatel-Lucent network and security products.

“The real message for our customers for 2009 is that Jeskell has retooled its engineering services around cost-savings initiatives,” said Rogers. “A lot of our customers are telling us that their projects this year are focused on cost savings to the corporation and a return on their technology investments. So we’re doing some very creative things designed to help customers save money.”

For example, Jeskell provides storage assessments to help customers rein in their storage demands.

“Storage demand is growing, so the way you manage and price out that storage has to get better in order to get a handle on costs,” Rogers said. “Customers don’t want to just go out and buy more storage anymore. They want to consolidate what they have — even if it means going to a new storage platform — so that they can manage it better going forward. We can go in and assess their existing environment and recommend solutions that will minimize the need to keep buying more disk.”

Data migration goes hand-in-hand with server virtualization and storage consolidation. Jeskell’s comprehensive data migration services help customers move huge volumes of data while minimizing risk and downtime.

“We are currently working on a project in which a customer is migrating from 27 disk arrays down to two. We have customers moving from 20 Sun servers down to a single rack of IBM System p servers using advanced virtualization for AIX or BladeCenters running VMware on the Intel platform,” Rogers said. “Like consolidation, virtualization is big because it saves money, it saves power, it eliminates all kinds of maintenance costs. And it reduces capital expenditures because you’re just buying one piece of equipment.”

While the technologies behind these solutions are new, Jeskell’s 18-year history of excellence in customer represents a dedication to helping customers derive maximum value from their technology investments. Whether you’re seeking to trim costs, improve productivity, simplify management or all three, call your Jeskell representative to learn why Jeskell means service.
