By all accounts, IT budgets are expected to grow in 2011 — at least a little. Gartner forecasts worldwide IT spending to total $3.6 trillion in 2011, a 5.1 percent increase from 2010. That’s up from Gartner’s previous outlook of 3.5 percent growth for 2011 global IT spending.
The telecom equipment market is poised for the strongest growth in 2011, with worldwide telecom equipment spending forecast to grow 9.1 percent. Spending on computer hardware and enterprise software is expected to increase 7.5 percent, while IT services spending is forecast to jump 4.6 percent.
