What will be the next “killer app?”

I never claimed to be able to see into the future. However, there’s no doubt in my mind that mobile applications will alter the competitive landscape in the near future.

According to the researchers at Gartner, Inc., so-called context-aware computing will be a $12 billion market by 2012. Context-aware computing uses location, presence, social attributes and other environmental information to anticipate an end-user's immediate needs. Organizations will use context-aware computing to increase top- and bottom-line growth by better targeting prospects, improving customer relationships, and enhancing employee productivity and collaboration. Gartner Research Vice President Anne Lapkin describes context-aware computing as “a disruptive technology that has the potential to be a real ‘game changer’ in terms of competitive advantage.”

Today, most mobile applications are targeted at consumers, and real business solutions such as context-aware computing remain mostly conceptual. As we struggle to grow our businesses in today’s difficult economy, such “futuristic” concepts hardly seem relevant. However, technology continues to evolve at a breathtakingly rapid pace. If the folks at Gartner are right, then organizations need to be planning now for the impact of mobility and location-based applications.

That’s where FusionStorm/Jeskell comes in. We stay abreast not only of the latest products but of the trends that are likely to impact your business two or three years down the road. Our engineers and application developers are already becoming experts in mobility solutions so that we can help you take advantage of this technology when the time is right.

We’re not a research firm, nor do we possess a crystal ball. We simply have assembled a team of savvy individuals who understand today’s business challenges and are always on the lookout for new solutions to those challenges.

Our business model is focused on anticipating customer needs, rather than simply reacting to problems.
